The
monitor includes a Game Mode, which "intelligently detects changes in
scenes, enhances the color, and alters the screen's contrast to make the
darks darker and the lights lighter," Samsung said. "With Game Mode,
users can see all the action at all times, even in the darkest scenes.
The curved screen makes the action more lifelike than ever, plunging
users into a gaming experience so exhilarating it will keep them at the
edge of their seat."
Are you truly immersed in your work or gaming session? Perhaps a curved monitor will help. Samsung today revealed the 27-inch curved S27D590CS monitor, which the company said provides "the optimal screen curvature."
The device sports a 1,920-by-1,080 display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 178-degree extra-wide viewing angle. It comes in at 24.54 by 14.40 by 2.34 inches, weighs just over 12 pounds, sits on a curved T-shape stand, and will connect to Macs as well as PCs.
The S27D590CS features built-in 5-Watt, 2-channel dual stereo speakers, and an HDMI cable for connections to game consoles and Blu-ray players. D-Sub ports connect to PCs; with an extra graphics card, you can link up two or three monitors to truly feel like you're inside a game (or video chat).
A Game Boost feature will also enhance a game's sound, from car noises in a driving game and explosions in an action game to character sounds in a role playing game.
"The SD590C [has] a curved design that was carefully engineered to draw you into the display and truly make you feel a part of the content," Ron Gazzola, vice president of marketing at Samsung Electronics America, said in a statement.
The SD590C will be available in the U.S. beginning Oct. 1 for $429.99.
